Miss A - 6M **Very Special-Please Read

This is a special little client of mine and I feel the need to share her story. She has a rare form of childhood cancer known as Retinoblastoma. Although, it's rare, I feel that in my early career as a photographer if one of my clients has been diagnosed with it, then it's worth informing more parents of this serious disease. You can actually check for it yourself by taking a flash photograph of your child in dim lighting. There are many informative websites if you google retinoblastoma and they even have examples of what to look for in photographs. You might even remember the story last year of 2 moms who became friends over an internet forum. The lived in different continents; but the one mom was able to warn her friend of the potential danger just by seeing her snapshots that were shared on the forum. If you didn't see the story, you can read about it from the Today show here.

Little Miss A's mom had seen the story last year and became concerned after seeing her snapshots of A. She immediately sought a doctor who then sent them directly to St. Jude. She is now being treated for not one tumor; but 3 tumors - one in one eye and 2 in the other. Please keep your thoughts with her and her family as they undergo chemo and other treatments. Her prognosis of beating the cancer is good; but she will most likely lose some of her eyesight.

Mom got this one in a 20x20 square and in one of my new frames that I'm selling and it was perfect for this image. I hated to see her come by and pick it up!! I enjoyed looking at it!

I love all my little newborns. It's such a special session. They are so tiny and awkward; and I love everything about it. But they change so quickly. It's so important to get them in at just days old. I have parents when picking up their orders, always say how much they've changed in just those few weeks since taking the images. It's just a miracle of life that you want to bottle up and keep forever.

She's a supermodel! Well, maybe, not exactly but she did model this little hat for the lady that makes them for me.

A Girl and her Gator!

This is the story of a girl and her gator! LOL!! I've been photographing her since she was just days old! By coincidence her mommy and daddy bought our old house in Monroe's Garden District in '04 and they just happened to contact me for a newborn session. I went on location to my old house and did their newborn images. She was so tiny and sooo alert! But when she finally did settle down to rest, we got some of the most amazing newborn pictures that I've ever taken. If you keep refreshing the front page of my website, she is the newborn wrapped in cheesecloth entitled Miracles. She was the tiniest little thing, too! Now she has turned a year old and from 3M on, she has been photographed with her gator. You can go back on the blog and find her 3M and 6M picture with the gator. She just keeps getting more and more beautiful! I hope to continue photographing her for years to come.

Sleeping Beauty!

Of all the recent newborns, this is the only little princess of the bunch. It seems that the boys and girls come in waves. It's never even. I enjoyed this little beauty. She was seven days old and just perfect! She never even woke up to see what was going on. This is the PERFECT age for my newborn portrait sessions.

I don't think her daddy ever knew he could love someone so much as he does her! He called to schedule her appointment just hours or maybe even minutes after she was born. It was a beautiful message he left because you could hear the excitement in his voice from having just seen his new baby being born. (I hope that wasn't too cheesy to say but I remember my own husband's excitement when each of our children were born. I don't have much of a memory but that is one thing I don't think I'll ever forget.)

I was privileged to photograph several newborns before I left for my Disney vacation (which was fantastic, by the way!) I had 4 newborns in a weeks time and every one of them was A+ perfection! I had a great maternity session when the weather was nice so I asked if she wanted to go outside and play for a few minutes. I didn't have much time and it was in the middle of the day so the sun was pretty harsh but I love some of the shots we got. I, also, loved stepping "out of the box" for a little while.

Oh my goodness! They are so cute; but so different!! I was cracking up at how one would look and the other wouldn't. And just when you had the other one looking, the first baby looked away!! It's always fun when they come in! And believe it or not, it's probably easier than doing one baby!

Fall is my favorite time of year. The foliage is so beautiful and we get a relief from our scorching hot summers. I have so many memories in the Fall. My wedding anniversary is this time of year, Kylie was born in the Fall and so much more. I just love it! Even the clothes are cuter! Don't forget the hot chocolate with mini marshmallows on top!! And the weenie roasts! And the scent of apple cinnamon candles! Oh, I could go on and on!

Field of Flowers

This is the start of Kylie's 3Y portraits. I plan to do these in baby steps because she doesn't last very long in front of the camera. I've ruined her!! LOL!! Landon always loved the camera and was a ham; but she runs away and runs fast!

My vision was Kylie in a field. I didn't care what grew there as long as it was brown and tall. I had my mother-in-law keep watch for a field on her way to visit us last weekend; but she just didn't see anything. Well, Monday morning, I'm opening my curtains and guess what I "see"!! Right outside my back door is my field! Silly me! It was right in front of me all along. Now, if you saw this field, you would think I was nuts because it isn't much to look at; but it goes to show you how beautiful images can be in the ugliest of places.

These were my favorites. With all of the bugs and our Louisiana heat, I had to work fast!

I love watching these babies grow up!! It's sad to see them turn one! I know they will be back but I won't get to see them as often. He's one of those babies that the camera LOVES. So photogenic!

This is what I'm going to call this cute pie!! She has the prettiest blue eyes EVER for a 3 month old!! I've never seen a baby at 3M with eyes soooo blue!!

A very popular dress for my studio! LOL!! She's the second baby to come in with it and I have another little girl coming in the same dress. It's a gorgeous classic style. I want one for Kylie!!

Here is another doll baby! It was time for her 6M session and her grandmas brought her. Mommy had to work. The flower pot images were at the bottom of mommy's requests; but grandmas had to have them. They ended up being mommy's favorite pictures!! Yay!! There were so many good pictures, I don't see how mommy could pick her faves!!
